OUR EXPERTISE
The Safest Seal, The Lowest Leak
A tank valve or vent is a device relied upon to control the pressure or vacuum of the vapor space in atmospheric or low-pressure storage tanks.
Normal inbreathing and outbreathing of large tanks are common due to a multitude of factors including, for example, liquid transfer effects and thermal expansion and contraction. Emergency venting because of fire is also a very real safety concern that requires attention on a case-by-case basis. Tank vents come in multiple designs, sizes, and configurations based on their intended purposes, as well as having the ability to be calibrated to operate within predetermined parameters.
Accumulated knowledge and experience by engineers in the venting industry has been applied to create the standards governed by API 2000 that all manufacturers and end-users must adhere to. Being a major contributor to the progression of the modern tank vent, Prism sits as a member of the API 2000 Task Force to assist in the forward growth and fair play in the industry with focus directed towards safety and stringent testing procedures.

How Do Leak Rates Work?
Verify the maximum leak rate for pressure/vacuum vents by one of the following methods
The measured leak rate shall be less than the value specified in Table 10 at 75% of the adjusted set pressure.
- The measured inlet pressure shall be greater than 75% of the adjusted set pressure at the maximum leak rate specified in Table 10
Leak Rate Sizing (Table 10)
Less than – 6″ – 0.014m3h (0.5scfh)
8″ – 16″ – 0.142m3h (5.0scfh)
16″ – Greater – 0.566m3h (20.0scfh)
A Comfortable Lead!
Prism breather valves offer a 20% operational buffer beyond all other vents or valves.
Counter Force Pallet
Up to 10X leak rate reduction!
Our truly unique vapor recovery system. The heart of Prism’s vent line is in the air purge seal we call the Counter Force. The seal acts as a pressure suspended valve sealing assembly, affording the lowest leak rate in the industry, and improving set point accuracy. The Counter Force helps to extend the life of the relief valve due to its air cushioned ride, pressure suspended valve assembly. This translates into savings of product loss, blanketing gas losses, maintenance, and rebuild costs. The user-friendly design of our bolt in stainless steel seat allows for valve servicing performed in position.
