Prism has developed the Vapor Tight Pressure/Vacuum Thief Hatch to address fugitive emissions for the new millennium. Releases of toxic vapors into the atmosphere are unacceptable and wrong. Prism’s vapor recovery unit offers superior sealing ability, is built to last, and has good local service and support to make repairs quickly if necessary.

The Prism Vapor Tight Thief Hatch will address the vapor recovery issues of your flare stack. Our Counter Force Pressure Suspended Seal Assembly works by inflating as the pressure rises in the tank. As it inflates, it creates an even tighter air purge seal. A choice of body materials such as aluminum, coated carbon steel, and stainless steel are available to choose from. Carbon steel and stainless-steel construction ensure long life and durability. Prism has local manufacturing facilities and pursues combustion engineering challenges aimed squarely at Alberta’s harsh climate and conditions.

Solving Leakage Problems

Prism Integrated Solutions Inc. has engineered the Right Side Up Thief Hatch to eliminate problems associated with thief hatches in general. All other thief hatches incorporate a vacuum valve that hangs in the thief hatch valve upside down. Being that the valve is upside down, all rust, debris, ice, and water are sitting on the valve pallet, where if the valve opens, will fall right in between the seat and the valve pallet causing continuous leaking. Once the valve opens, the chance of getting debris between the seat is very high occurs frequently.

This pressure only relief vent design is totally sealed and configured to pipe-away vapor to a transfer or recovery line from a common flange connection without releasing any hazardous gas or vapors to atmosphere.
